Ryuun ( 龍雲 ) — "dragon cloud" — is a liquid ink built to behave like a ground inkstick rather than a bottled shortcut.
Kobaien selects and produces its own ultra-fine oil-smoke soot for it, then binds it with nothing but animal glue and water — no antiseptic, no anti-freezing agent, no added fragrance.
At full strength it takes on the sheen of lacquer ink; thinned, it does something rarer — it recalls the character of old inkstick, koboku, giving pale washes a clear edge and a soft, three-dimensional bloom rather than flat grey. Its own scent is strong enough to sharpen the hand before the brush even touches paper.
