Product information

This origami paper isn't a Kobaien product, but it's the paper ICHI reaches for themselves: the same washi they fold into the small paper cranes tucked into customer packages, offered for sale after enough people asked where to find it.

Each 15cm x 15cm sheet is high-quality, machine-made Japanese washi, printed with one of 45 different traditional Yuzen patterns — the same richly patterned dyeing style long associated with Japanese textiles and decorative arts, translated here into paper form.

Washi has a distinctive texture, slightly soft and warm to the touch compared to ordinary paper, which makes it satisfying to fold and pleasant to handle.

The set includes 180 sheets in total, enough for a good stretch of origami practice, handmade cards, or as scrap paper for testing brush and ink combinations before committing to a finished piece.

One customer called it beautiful paper, perfect for origami. For anyone whose desk already holds Kobaien ink and Nara brushes, this is a small, colorful complement — not for painting, but for the kind of paper-folding ritual that pairs naturally with a slow, hands-on approach to Japanese craft.
