Yagi Kou Boku takes its name directly from its ingredients: Yagi (山羊), goat, Kou (膠), glue, and Boku (墨), ink.
Goat glue is an uncommon binder in inkstick-making, and here it's used for how well the ink extends across paper, letting a stroke carry its color further and more evenly than it might with a more everyday glue.
That makes it a natural fit for calligraphy, where a long, unbroken line depends on the ink holding its consistency from the first touch of the brush to the last.
At 23.9mm wide, 87.7mm long, 8.8mm thick, and just 28 grams, it's a small, easy stick to keep close at hand — light enough for daily practice, quick to grind for a short session, and modest enough in price to use freely rather than save for special occasions.
