This Kobaien original plastic file folder — 丸虎, depicting a tiger and a leopard — carries an image traced back to a sumi inkstick mould made as a gift to celebrate the Kansei Reforms (1787–1793 CE), commissioned through Kobaien's relationship with Nakai Chikuzan, the Edo Shogunate's official scholar of the day.
At 220mm x 310mm, it's a small, everyday way to keep that piece of Edo-era history close, whether holding sketches, letters, or notes — a folder carrying two centuries of connection between Kobaien and the shogunate's own scholars.
