Product information

Kin Kikumon takes its name from Kin (金), gold, and Kikumon (菊紋), chrysanthemum crest — a name as decorative as the stick itself.

Made from the smoke of the finest canola oil, ground to ultra-fine particles, it's built with calligraphy in mind, suited to the kind of confident, connected strokes that reward a consistently smooth ink. Its gold leaf serves three purposes: beauty, protection from chemical change so the ink's quality holds over long periods, and — as generations of Japanese calligraphers have found — a smoother glide for the brush, particularly for Kuzushiji cursive script.

At 19.1mm wide, 71.5mm long, 7.6mm thick, and just 20 grams, it's a small, approachable stick, easy to keep at hand for regular practice without a large investment.
