Hyakuraku — "a hundred joys" — carries its name lightly, but the making of it is not casual: this is an oil-smoke ink and fine glue refined over Kobaien's long years of practice, tuned so the ink bleeds beautifully once it darkens on the page.
One customer called it exactly what they wanted after it arrived safely all the way to England; another, just starting out with a small inkstone, found it perfectly suited to beginner practice — easy to grind, easy to trust.
It is an unpretentious ink for the hundred small joys of daily practice: the first stroke of the morning, the steadying of the hand, the quiet return to the stone.
