Gyouun ( For quality works, 暁雲 墨汁 墨液 ) Sumi liquid ink

Gyouun — 暁雲, "dawn cloud" — is a liquid ink made from well-dried glue and soot by Kobaien's original method, expressing an elegant purplish-blue black.

Léa Morard called it amazing quality, praising the black's profound depth and the grey's subtle, elegant purple undertone, easy to control and smooth to apply.

Riitta Salastie found in it a wonderful mystical depth, saying the whole room seemed to radiate through it.

Hong Kong artist Eva Tsang used Gyouun for the trunk in her painting Dancing in Harmony with Nature, its distinctive brownish tone matching the natural hue of bark closely enough to help the work earn a place in the Ink Global painting exhibition.
