Gen — 玄, meaning deep, dark black — is the fuller-bodied companion to Kobaien's regular liquid ink, made from Kobaien's own oil-smoke soot for a result close to a hand-ground stick.

It is the most luxurious of the liquid inks, built for serious, finished artwork: smooth and comfortable under the brush, it sinks into paper with excellent permeability, and when thinned, its pale washes reveal a genuinely beautiful bleed.

Darker than its everyday counterpart, Gen is for the piece you don't want to leave to a lesser ink.
