Toki — 登喜, "happy feelings" — is a mixed-hair brush of wool, horse tail, and tanuki hair by Chiyomi Tanaka one of only seven certified brush artisans working in Nara today and the only woman among them to be profiled by The New York Times Style Magazine.
It's built to be effortless: easy to paint with, easy to write with, the kind of brush that gets out of the way and lets the pleasure of the stroke itself come through — living up to its name from the first touch of ink.
