At 440mm overall with just an 18.5mm head, its long, slender shaft sets it apart from almost anything else in
Chiyomi Tanaka's collection, one of only seven certified traditional brush artisans in Nara, Japan, and the only woman among them profiled by
The New York Times Style Magazine.
Made from horse hair, its striking proportions make it well suited to expressive, gestural work, where the length of the shaft itself shapes how a line moves across the paper.
This particular brush is the only one currently in stock, so it's a rare find even among Tanaka's already limited-run pieces.
