Haku Tou En Ken — 白 (haku, white) 陶 (to, ceramic) 円 (en, round) 硯 (ken, inkstone) — is a small white ceramic dish made for grinding colour inksticks, its pale surface chosen so the truest hue of the pigment shows through rather than being swallowed by dark stone.
Compact and unfussy, it's the natural companion to Kobaien's Gosaiboku set or any coloured stick you'd rather not grind against traditional slate — a quiet little tool that lets colour stay colour.
