Benibana — べに (beni, red), ばな (bana, flower) — is made from superb rapeseed oil worked with safflower grown in Yamagata Prefecture, the red drawn out of that flower serving not to colour the ink but to deepen it: the blackness comes through noticeably richer for the safflower within it.
A quiet piece of Japanese agriculture folded into every stroke — proof that even the purest black can carry a flower inside it.
**Size 0.7 has an oval shape.
