Product information

Yakujoryumon — 躍 (yaku, rise) 上 (jou, top) 龍 (ryu, dragon) 門 (mon, gate) — carries a name that echoes the old Chinese legend behind the phrase "dragon's gate": a carp leaping upstream, transformed into a dragon at the top of the falls.

Made from oil smoke and high-quality glue, drawn from 400 years of ink making at Kobaien, it settles into a soothing colour well suited to large-format work, deepening quickly to black and pulling easily across the stone: a warm black at full strength, a slightly brownish black when thinned.
