Yagi Sei Boku spells out its own materials, character by character: Yagi (山羊), goat, Kou (膠), glue, Sei (青), bluish, Boku (墨), ink. Made from rare goat glue, it's prized for its very good color extension, the way the ink spreads and carries across a stroke, which makes it especially well suited to calligraphy.

It comes in two sizes, 3.0 at 27×119.7×14.6mm, 69g, and 5.0 at 32.8×142.4×18.5mm, 107g, so you can choose a compact stick for practice or a larger one for more ambitious pieces.

For anyone drawn to Kobaien's ongoing exploration of rare, uncommon glues — each lending its own subtle character to the ink — this bluish black offers a quietly technical way to bring something unusual to the writing desk.
