Suzaku — 朱 (su, vermilion) 雀 (zaku, bird) — takes its name from the Vermilion Bird, one of the four guardian spirits of East Asian mythology, said to watch over the southern sky.
Made by Chiyomi Tanaka, one of only seven certified brush artisans working in Nara today and the only woman among them to be profiled by TThe New York Times Style Magazine. this small kana brush is weasel hair only, shaped in the traditional mensou style, and built to lay down soft, gentle lines.
