Kobaien's vermilion — 朱墨液, handmade in-house — sets itself apart from most other makers' warmer, more yellow-toned red: this one is calmer, closer to true cinnabar, which is why certain celebrated Japanese calligraphers use no other brand.

One painter, who used it to stamp a hand-carved linoleum seal, called it vividly alive with an orange undertone, odorless, fluid, and heavily pigmented — a little goes a long way, and it resists drying out even in a stamp pad over time. It stays smudgeable once dry, so she recommends a protective coating for finished work.

Contains no mercury or other substances harmful to the body, though it isn't intended for use on skin.

This  is not intended to be used on the human body, such as for tattooing.

Shake the bottle well before using this red liquid ink, please.
