haboku Mumyou — 茶墨 (Chaboku, brownish ink), 無名 (Mumyou, no name) — is a stick that carries no grand title, only its purpose: a special oil smoke worked to bring out a warm brownish black.
Pushed dark, it holds that deep brown tone; thinned, it softens into a light brownish black, equally at home in calligraphy and watercolour painting.
An unassuming, honest ink for those who'd rather let the colour speak than the name.
