Taihou — 大 (tai, big) 鳳 (hou, phoenix) — darkens fast once ground and dissolved, giving an elegant, soft black in its deeper tones, though it doesn't aim for subtlety in pale washes. I

t's a working ink, well suited to daily practice and to the broad gestures of large-paper pieces.
