Junyouboku Shikonkei — 紫紺系 (Shikonkei, purple-like colour) — is a concentrated sumi liquid ink developed for the finest calligraphy and painting work, diluted 3 to 20 times with water to suit the piece at hand.

On paper it expresses a beautiful blotting and depth, its purplish-navy undertone giving washes a quiet richness beyond a plain black.

A flexible companion ink, ready to be drawn out thin or kept close to full strength as the work demands.
